2025 Ducati Multistrada V2 revealed, steps in as the lightest in the segment

The Ducati Multistrada V2 sets a new benchmark for mid-size crossovers, focusing on lightness, handling, and ease of riding. Featuring a redesigned framework around the new Ducati V2 engine, the bike is 18 kg lighter than its predecessor, making it the lightest in its category.

When talking about it in detail, the design of the new Ducati Multistrada V2 is highly inspired by the  Multistrada family. It features horizontally balanced volumes, a compact and lightweight tail, and a sporty front area with side panels that enhance the bike’s front profile. Signature elements such as the shoulder surfaces, huge tank, and the iconic ‘beak’ have been refined to resemble the flagship Multistrada V4.

The Multistrada V2 integrates design with functionality. The height-adjustable windshield, developed through aerodynamic studies, includes integrated deflectors that enhance protection. To improve thermal comfort, lateral air conveyors inspired by the Multistrada V4 direct cool air toward the rider’s legs. The new headlights and DRL, taking cues from the latest-generation Panigale and Multistrada V4, contribute to a compact and distinctive front look. The shorter beak, integrated with the windshield, enhances the bike’s cohesive design.

The direction indicators have been redesigned and repositioned within the side panels to ensure visibility and facilitate airflow toward the rider. The tail section has been streamlined, featuring a redesigned rear grab handle that balances functionality and ergonomics.

The ergonomics of the Multistrada V2 have been redesigned with a focus on comfort. Both the rider and passenger seats have been updated, and passenger roominess has been improved, particularly in terms of legroom and torso space. This is made possible by rearward top box and side case attachments.

To ensure the rider can rest their feet on the ground safely, the seat has two adjustable height settings, 850 mm and 830 mm. Additionally, Ducati offers an accessory seat with a raised height of 870 mm or a lowered height of 810 mm. On the S version, the seat can be lowered to 790 mm, thanks to the semi-active DSS (Ducati Skyhook Suspension) and the Minimum Preload system.

The new Multistrada V2 is powered by the Ducati V2 engine, a compact and lightweight 890 cc 90° V-twin. It features IVT variable intake valve timing and coil spring valve recall, contributing to the bike’s overall weight reduction. The engine delivers 115 hp at 10,750 rpm and 92 Nm of torque at 8,250 rpm. The variable valve timing optimizes performance, delivery, and fuel efficiency.

The engine provides more than 70% of its maximum torque at 3,500 rpm, maintaining at least 75% of the torque between 3,500 and 11,000 rpm. This results in smoother power delivery at lower revs, especially at small throttle openings. A larger flywheel further improves the throttle response, making it smoother for touring and city riding.

The gearbox has been tailored specifically for the Multistrada, with shorter first and second gears to enhance low-speed usability and acceleration under full load. The new Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 system ensures more precise pedal feel and faster gear changes.

The new Multistrada V2 features a completely redesigned chassis, including a new frame, rear subframe, and swingarm. The frame is an aluminium monocoque, with the engine used as a stressed element, while the rear subframe is made of steel trellis, and the swingarm is cast in aluminium. This combination, along with the new V2 engine, contributes to a low overall weight of 199 kg for the V2 version and 202 kg for the V2 S version with semi-active suspension.

The redesigned monocoque frame helps create a slimmer bike with a narrower fit, making it easier for the rider to place their feet on the ground. The contact area of the knees and inner thighs with the bike has been improved, increasing comfort and control, especially at higher speeds. The new ergonomics also reduce the effort needed to lean the bike and ensure more neutral handling when entering and navigating curves.

The Multistrada V2 is equipped with a fully adjustable Marzocchi fork with 45 mm tubes and a Sachs shock absorber with progressive link. The V2 S version features semi-active suspension with Ducati Skyhook Suspension (DSS) electronic control, which enhances comfort, safety, and performance. The new electronic strategies help limit front-end dive during braking (anti-dive) and reduce rear-end squat during acceleration (anti-squat), improving riding precision.

Additionally, the Minimum Preload function allows the rear suspension to be lowered with the press of a button, making it easier to touch the ground when the bike is fully loaded or carrying a passenger. The Suspension Modes can be selected independently of the Riding Modes, enabling the rider to adjust the suspension calibration while keeping the engine response and other electronic controls unchanged.

Both versions of the Multistrada V2 come with a 19” front wheel and a 17” rear wheel, paired with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tyres. With 170 mm of suspension travel, the bike offers versatility and a good riding feel. The braking system consists of dual 320 mm front discs and a single 265 mm rear disc, ensuring reliable performance in various riding conditions.

Features-wise, Ducati has poured the motorcycle with technology. The new Multistrada V2 is equipped with a comprehensive electronics package, which can be managed via redesigned handlebar controls and a new 5” TFT colour dashboard. The dashboard features a revamped multilingual interface with three different Infomodes.

The Multistrada V2 offers five Riding Modes: Sport, Touring, Urban, Enduro, and Wet. These modes allow the rider to adjust the engine power and response, with pre-configured and modifiable values provided by the four Power Modes. The Riding Modes also set the cornering ABS, Ducati Traction Control (DTC), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC), and Engine Brake Control (EBC) to predefined levels, which can be further adjusted by the rider.

The three Infomodes (Road, Road Pro, and Rally) allow the rider to customize the information displayed on the dashboard for different riding situations. For example, Road Pro shows the real-time percentage of power and torque used.

Standard features on the Ducati Multistrada V2 include Cruise Control, a USB socket integrated into the dashboard, and the Ducati Brake Light EVO, which activates emergency flashing during sudden braking. The V2 S model also includes the Ducati Multimedia System, with an option to activate the Turn-by-Turn navigator accessory. Additionally, the Coming Home function keeps the low beams active after turning off the ignition, helping to illuminate the area in front of the bike when entering home.
