Anurag Mehrotra Appointed Managing Director of JSW MG Motor India

JSW MG Motor India has appointed Anurag Mehrotra as its Managing Director. He brings three decades of experience in sales, marketing, strategy, and business development within the automotive industry. His past roles include leadership positions at Tata Motors and Ford India. Based in Gurugram, he will focus on strategic growth and strengthening key brand pillars.

Rajeev Chaba, who played a key role in establishing the MG brand in India, will continue as an advisor. Under his leadership, MG introduced several innovative products and achieved significant market growth. He will remain part of the Joint Steering Committee.

Company officials have expressed confidence in Mehrotra’s leadership. SAIC Motor’s international operations head, Yu De, acknowledged Chaba’s contributions and stated that Mehrotra’s expertise will help drive the company’s next phase. Parth Jindal, Director of JSW MG Motor India, highlighted the company’s focus on sustainable mobility and its transition into a new phase with upcoming products.

The company, a joint venture between SAIC Motor and JSW Group, was formed in 2023. It aims to develop a sustainable automotive ecosystem with a diverse portfolio of vehicles. Its manufacturing facility in Gujarat has an annual capacity of over 100,000 vehicles and supports 6,000 jobs. MG has introduced several innovations in the Indian market, including the first Internet SUV and an autonomous premium SUV.

The company continues to focus on advanced technologies and localisation to enhance its product offerings.

Autocar Professional had, in December, exclusively reported that Mehrotra is likely to join JSW MG Motor as CEO.
