2026 Polestar 2 adds enhanced processor chip, updated battery

Polestar has announced that the 2026 Polestar 2 will feature an upgraded processor chip and a new premium audio system option from Bowers & Wilkins among other new additions. While a release date for the newly upgraded EV was not confirmed, Polestar confirmed that orders are now open for Europe with further markets to follow later in 2025.

Leading Polestar 2’s new features for 2026 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor chip. With it, the car will be able to support quicker download speeds for in-car apps, faster reaction times within apps and actions, improved center display responsiveness, and smoother performance within its infotainment system overall.

Offered as an additional upgrade, Polestar 2 can now be equipped with the Bowers & Wilkins for Polestar sound system. This high-end audio system comprises 14 speakers, with a total output of 1,350 Watts. Its key features include tweeter-on-top technology for improved clarity and accuracy, and continuum midrange speakers designed to minimize distortion and deliver a rich audio experience.

A new feature for Polestar 2 is Plug & Charge technology, which was previously exclusive to the Polestar 3. It facilitates a more streamlined charging experience for drivers by allowing them to park at a charging point, plug in the cable, and allow the car to automatically initiate and authenticate the process (including payment).

Polestar highlighted that Plug & Charge can be enabled through its Polestar Charge app, available for iOS and Android smartphones, or within the vehicle’s settings menu. Once enabled, the OEM says, the need for various charging cards or apps is eliminated.

In select markets, the 2026 Polestar 2 will also offer a battery update for the Standard range Single Motor variant. All Polestar markets now, more broadly, offer a 70-kWh battery supplied by CATL, providing the variant with a new estimated maximum range of 344 miles (554 km), up from the previous generation’s 339-mile (546 km) range.
