FLO’s X6 home EV charger

Quebec-headquartered FLO is both a charging network operator and an EV charging hardware provider. The company offers a full range of chargers, from commercial DC fast chargers all the way down to Level 2 chargers for home use.

The FLO Home line of residential chargers includes three models: the 50-amp X3 and X6, and the 80-amp X8. All offer smart features such as the ability to schedule charging and to restrict access, and to receive real-time charging status notifications. All come with a 25-foot cable and a 5-year warranty. The X3 and X6 can deliver up to 12 kW of power, and the X8 can crank out 19.2 kW. The main differences between the X3 and X6: the latter has a detachable cable/connector holder, and allows two or more chargers to be daisy-chained on the same circuit.

All three models are available with either a J1772 or NACS (SAE J3400) connector, and in both NEMA 14-50 plug-in and hard-wired versions. All are UL-listed and ENERGY STAR certified.

Charged has tested a FLO X6, and we are favorably impressed. Our electrician found installation to be straightforward and quick, and we’ve used it to charge several different EV models with no problems. In each case, the X6 immediately began delivering electrons at the EV’s maximum rate of charge. The smart features are easily managed through the FLO app.
