Nous Research, a NYC-based company developing human-centric simulators and models, raised $65M in funding.
The round consisted of a $50M led by Paradigm, plus $15M from Together AI, Distributed Global, North Island Ventures, Delphi Digital, and Solana co-founder Raj Gokal in a prior unannounced round.
The company intends to use the funds to expand its R&D initiatives, build out foundational compute infrastructure for the Psyche Network, make strategic hires across engineering teams, and accelerate the development of new AI models.
Founded in 2023 by Jeffrey Quesnelle (CEO), Karan Malhotra (Head of Behavior), Teknium (Head of Post Training) and Shivani Mitra, Nous Research is an open-source AI lab focused on advancing foundational AI models through a decentralized, community-driven approach.
The Psyche Network uses Nous’s DisTrO technology, which reduces inter-GPU communication for AI model training, making decentralized and collaborative development more accessible and efficient.
The company has published research, including the DeMo paper in 2024 with OpenAI co-founder Diedrick P. Kingma, and the YaRN language model method in 2023, which has been cited by 109 academic AI papers and is used by models from Meta and DeepSeek.
