At the VW Group top is a change ahead. CEO Matthias Müller will vacate the post of CEO after SPIEGEL information and is apparently to be replaced by Herbert Diess, who leads the core brand VW. First, the “Handelsblatt” reported about it. The contract of the 64-year-old Müller actually runs until 2020.

Previously, Volkswagen had declared by mandatory notice to want to rebuild the top management. “This could include a change in the position of CEO,” it said. CEO Müller had his “fundamental willingness to participate in the changes”. Further details of this did not make the Dax Group initially.

Rebuilding for a long time

Already at a meeting of the Supervisory Board next Friday, the personnel could be decided according to SPIEGEL information. An official statement on the reports does not yet exist.

According to “Handelsblatt” has grown in the major shareholders, the realization that the company now needs a fresh start after the extensive processing of the diesel scandal. Müller sees this as well and therefore go voluntarily, wrote the newspaper, citing the environment of the VW bosses.

Among investors, the change in the Board of Management is likely to be a good start, especially as Müller was not entirely undisputed. The preference shares of Volkswagen rose in the afternoon by four percent last.

At the same time as Volkswagen, the parent company Porsche SE went public and stated that changes in the VW Board of Management could also lead to changes in the Board of Management at Porsche SE. Porsche SE, controlled by the Porsche and Piëch families, holds a good 52 percent of the voting rights in Volkswagen.
