New Ford C-MAX Sport delivers dynamic styling for active families, including unique 17-inch alloys wheels, black contrast roof and detailing, and body-colour larger rear spoiler and sills
Standard features include sports-bolstered seats, Ford Power starter button, heated power-foldable door mirrors, auto lighting, rain-sensing wipers and rear parking distance sensors
COLOGNE, Germany, May 3, 2018 – Ford today announced a dynamic new C-MAX Sport special edition version of the practical and refined five-seat multi-activity vehicle (MAV) for active families, offering bold sports styling and an upgraded interior featuring standard advanced driving technologies.
The new C-MAX Sport helps families stand out from the crowd with a colour co-ordinated exterior featuring black exterior detailing, signature lighting, unique alloy wheels and additional sporty styling features for the exterior and interior. Standard convenience features include technologies to take the strain out of driving in the rain or low-light conditions, and key-free starting.
Family budgets will also benefit from reduced running costs delivered by a range of fuel-efficient Ford EcoBoost petrol and TDCi diesel engines, including the multi-award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine enhanced with innovative fuel-saving technology.
“Families shouldn’t have to choose between practicality and excitement when buying a new car, and our new Ford C-MAX Sport model delivers both, with an extra-spacious interior featuring flexible and removable rear seats that can be easily configured for more passenger room or luggage space, and distinctive, eye-catching exterior styling,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe. “High-series vehicles attract more and more of our customers, and demand for dynamically styled vehicles with advanced technologies continues to grow.”
The five-seat C-MAX and seven-seat Grand C-MAX deliver refinement, practicality and a fun-to-drive experience in a roomy and versatile MAV package. Available technologies include Active Park Assist with Perpendicular Parking, which effortlessly steers into parking spaces at the press of a button; and Hands-Free Tailgate, which allows a driver with their arms full of shopping to access the boot using a gentle kicking motion beneath the rear bumper. Ford’s SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system is also available, and allows drivers to control audio and navigation functions plus connected smartphones using simple voice commands.
Dynamic, sporty styling
The boldly styled five-seat C-MAX Sport special edition enhances the model’s contemporary design with a large rear spoiler and unique, energetically styled 17-inch alloy wheels, with optional 18-inch alloy wheels also available.
The colour-coded exterior features a contrasting black-painted roof with matching black mirrors, and body-coloured lower bumper and side sill elements. Headlamps incorporate signature LED daytime running lights, and the front foglamps are framed by distinctive black bezels.
Inside the cabin, driver and front passenger are hugged more firmly by bolstered sports seats, and all five seats – made from durable material designed to easily withstand the worst that young passengers can throw at them – feature black cloth with grey contrast stitching. The C MAX Sport features an armrest and storage console between the front seats with additional space for snacks, toys and mobile devices, and a leather gearshift knob complements the leather steering wheel that is standard on C-MAX models.
Sophisticated comfort, convenience and driver assistance technologies are designed to make family journeys easier and less stressful. The C-MAX Sport features as standard the Ford Power starter button, for easy starting without needing to insert a key into the ignition; heated power-foldable door mirrors that clear quickly on frosty mornings; auto lighting, which automatically activate dipped-beam headlamps in low-light conditions; rain-sensing wipers, which activate when a wet windshield is detected; and rear parking distance sensors for more confident reversing.
Fuel-efficient engines
Family budgets will benefit from a range of petrol and diesel engines optimised for fuel efficiency and meeting the latest stringent Euro Stage 6 emissions standards.
The new C-MAX Sport special edition is offered with Ford’s compact and powerful 1.0 litre EcoBoost petrol engine, for the first time featuring cylinder deactivation technology for reduced CO2 emissions and improved fuel efficiency.
The technology automatically stops fuel delivery and valve operation for one of the cylinders in conditions where full capacity is not needed, such as when the car is coasting or cruising with light demand on the engine. The system is able to disengage or re-engage the cylinder in 14 milliseconds – 20 times faster than the blink of an eye – and, combined with advanced solutions to counteract vibrations, will be imperceptible to drivers in terms of operation and engine performance.
The 100 PS 1.0 litre EcoBoost delivers 5.6 l/100 km fuel efficiency and 127 g/km CO2,* and the 125 PS 1.0 litre EcoBoost delivers 5.7 l/100 km fuel efficiency and 129 g/km CO2. Gasoline particulate filter technology further reduces emissions, and both versions feature a six-speed manual transmission.
Also offered is Ford’s 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine with 150 PS and a choice of six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, delivering from 6.1 l/100 km fuel efficiency and 139 g/km CO2; or 180 PS with six-speed automatic transmission, delivering 6.5 l/100 km fuel efficiency and 149 g/km CO2.
Diesel powertrain options include Ford’s 1.5-litre TDCi with 95 PS and 120 PS, both delivering from 4.7 l/100 km fuel efficiency and 125 g/km CO2, and featuring a new selective catalytic reduction emissions after-treatment system that contributes to improved NOX reduction.
Ford’s 2.0-litre TDCi is offered with 150 PS delivering from 5.2 l/100 km fuel efficiency and 138 g/km CO2, or 170 PS delivering from 5.1 l/100 km fuel efficiency and 136 g/km CO2. All four diesel engines are available with a choice of six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions.
The new C-MAX Sport special edition is available to order in markets across Europe now.

*The declared Fuel/Energy Consumptions, CO2 emissions and electric range are measured according to the technical requirements and specifications of the European Regulations (EC) 715/2007 and (EC) 692/2008 as last amended. Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are specified for a vehicle variant and not for a single car. The applied standard test procedure enables comparison between different vehicle types and different manufacturers. In addition to the fuel efficiency of a car, driving behaviour as well as other non-technical factors play a role in determining a car’s fuel/energy consumption, CO2 emissions and electric range. CO2 is the main greenhouse gas responsible for global warming.
From 1 September 2017, certain new vehicles will be type-approved using the World Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) according (EU) 2017/1151 as last amended, which is a new, more realistic test procedure for measuring fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. From 1 September 2018 the WLTP will fully replace the New European Drive Cycle (NEDC), which is the current test procedure. During NEDC Phase-out, WLTP fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are being correlated back to NEDC. There will be some variance to the previous fuel economy and emissions as some elements of the tests have altered i.e., the same car might have different fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
