In his garage, he changed a dozen defective airbags per day. “You have here, inside the steering wheel, the substance which allows to inflate the airbag and it is she which unfortunately deteriorates over time and can ‘fart’ a little too strong, explains Esteban Budis, mechanic. If it is yellow, it means that it is an old model and if it is white it means that it is new and that there is no problem to be done.”
Airbags Takata has been confirmed in the death of two people in France. A Montpellier lawyer represents 200 motorists. They attack the Stellantis group in court for “endangering their lives”.

Waiting period
Until now, drivers were simply invited to have this equipment replaced. But Tuesday, the Minister of Transport put pressure on the Stellantis group. “The attitude of the company is not up to the challenges and risks involved,” said Minister Philippe Tabarot.
Since then, Citroën has requested immediate immobilization of its C3 and DS3 vehicles.

Fortunately, airbag restocks follow. “There, it is a little better, we have them a little faster. Two months ago, the DS3 airbags, we expected them practically three weeks or even a month,” said Alain Gauny, workshop manager Dan Sun Garage de Lattes (Hérault).
With this recall campaign, Citroën is in the viewfinder, but other brands are equipped with these Takata airbags.
