Ampere has announced a five-year battery warranty for its Nexus electric scooter, marking one of the longest warranty periods in India’s electric two-wheeler market. The warranty covers 75,000 kilometers or five years, whichever comes first, and applies to all Nexus variants.
The company has also introduced new financing options with interest rates starting at 6.99 percent and reduced down payment requirements. These measures appear designed to make the Nexus more accessible to consumers amid growing competition in the electric scooter segment.
Ampere, which operates as the two-wheeler brand under Greaves Electric Mobility, positions the Nexus as a family-oriented electric scooter. The vehicle uses Lithium Ferro Phosphate (LFP) battery technology and offers a range of 100 to 110 kilometers under real-world conditions. The scooter reaches a top speed of 93 kilometers per hour and requires 3 hours and 22 minutes for a complete charge.
The Nexus has received recognition through the India Design Mark and a Best Electric Scooter Award. The model gained attention after completing a 10,000-kilometer journey from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, during which it reportedly set four national records.
The scooter starts at an ex-showroom price of ₹1,14,900. The extended warranty and financing options come as India’s electric two-wheeler market experiences rapid growth, with multiple manufacturers competing for market share through various incentives and technological improvements.
Greaves Electric Mobility’s decision to extend the warranty period reflects broader industry trends toward longer coverage periods as manufacturers seek to address consumer concerns about battery longevity and replacement costs in electric vehicles.
