Honda India Foundation Introduces ‘Project Buniyaad’ in Sikkim on World Youth Skills Day

Honda India Foundation (HIF), the corporate social responsibility arm of the Honda group companies in India, has introduced ‘Project Buniyaad’ in Sikkim through a formal partnership with the Directorate of Craftsmanship Training & Scheme (DCTSE), Skill Development Department (SDD), Government of Sikkim. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed as part of the World Bank-supported Sikkim INSPIRES Program and was announced during a ceremony held at Chintan Bhawan, Gangtok.

The event was attended by Prem Singh Tamang, Chief Minister of Sikkim and Minister-in-Charge of the Skill Development Department; Shri Samdup Bhutia, Additional Secretary-cum-Director, DCTSE; and Rajeev Taneja, Operating Officer at Honda India Foundation.

Project Buniyaad is designed to deliver industry-oriented training in the hospitality sector, supported by certifications from recognized agencies and placement support. The initiative is focused on promoting skill-based learning as a pathway to employment and income generation.

Launched in 2024, Project Buniyaad targets youth in National Priority Regions such as the Northeast and Jammu & Kashmir. By addressing regional skill gaps, the program aims to improve employability and foster local economic development. Its expansion into Sikkim reflects HIF’s collaboration with state governments to scale skill development initiatives in underserved areas.

Honda India Foundation also continues to support other initiatives in the fields of road safety, environmental protection, education, healthcare, and rural development across the country.
