“I lost the ignition, everything became black in the car, just a light asking me to stop quickly,” recalls Mélanie Delos-Feuvrier, owner of a Peugeot 3008 with a defective engine. “So I had to let myself be carried by the momentum by spinning between the emergency stopway and the trucks, pregnant, and my four -year -old daughter on the rear seat”. During troubleshooting, the diagnosis falls: a part connecting the camshafts caused the engine.

Mélanie has 6,000 euros in repair. But despite many emails, the Peugeot manufacturer refuses to take care of: “They tell me that the maintenance recommendations were not followed in particular as to the revision and therefore they refuse the financial management of the failure since I had a 4 -month delay between two revisions”. The young woman does not understand how Peugeot can make her carry this financial responsibility. For her, it is up to the company to assume the financial consequences of this failure.

“The gentleman of the Peugeot client service with whom I was exchanging confirmed to me that the control of this piece is not carried out during the interviews is well known,” she says. “All the vehicles that came out of the factory after mine saw this resized part. The problem was resolved on the vehicles that followed.” According to Mélanie, this breakdown falls to them and therefore has nothing to do with the interview.

But the young woman is not the only one having to take care of the repairs of the defective engine. Many are in his situation and have gathered in association of victims. Mélanie has also registered there will sue the automotive company: “We are not the only ones to have had this kind of problem”. By mobilizing, she hopes to inform people around her of this problem and obtain financial care.

The owners of defective engines grouped in association therefore decided to file a collective complaint: “It is unfortunate to have to do this kind of steps to be heard”, regrets Smaël Sebille, president of the association “Victims Channel 1.5 BlueHDI”. Basically it is a manufacturing defect that generates the breakage.

If Stellantis had recognized his mistakes, the problem would be resolved. They are not allowed to do what they do, to put families in a hassle.
