François Provost Named CEO of Renault Group

Renault Group has appointed François Provost as its new Chief Executive Officer and Director, effective July 31, 2025, for a four-year term. The decision was made during a board meeting chaired by Jean-Dominique Senard, following a recommendation from the Governance and Remuneration Committee.

Provost, a Renault veteran with over two decades of experience, most recently served as the Group’s Chief Procurement, Partnerships and Public Affairs Officer. His appointment is expected to ensure continuity in the Group’s strategic direction and reinforce its global development through strong partnerships and innovation.

“François Provost will lead the Group with discernment and determination in an environment that demands both strategic vision and executional rigor,” said Senard. “Thanks to his expertise and deep knowledge of the company, we can complete our current strategic plan and build the next phase of transformation.”

Expressing his gratitude, Provost stated, “I will dedicate all my energy and passion to contributing – alongside our 100,000 employees, dealers, suppliers, and partners – to the development of Renault Group, one of the flagships of French industry for the past 127 years.”

A graduate of École Polytechnique and a chief engineer in the Corps des Mines, Provost joined Renault in 2002. His international leadership roles have taken him from Portugal to Russia, Korea, China, and the Asia-Pacific region. He has played key roles in global partnerships with Nissan, Geely, and Aramco.

The appointment follows a brief interim period led by Duncan Minto. Renault Group is set to announce its half-year financial results on July 31.

Operating in 114 countries, Renault Group is a major player in global mobility, offering innovative and sustainable solutions through its four brands—Renault, Dacia, Alpine, and Mobilize. The company sold 2.265 million vehicles in 2024 and aims to achieve carbon neutrality in Europe by 2040.
