Ather Energy Limited launched the 450S electric scooter with a 3.7 kWh battery pack on July 31, 2025, offering an IDC range of 161 kilometers at a starting price of INR 145,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru). The new variant targets riders seeking extended range and performance in India’s electric two-wheeler market.
The 450S with 3.7 kWh battery pack bridges the gap between entry-level performance scooters and premium models by combining extended range with accessible pricing. The variant addresses market demand for higher range capability while maintaining the 450 series’ performance characteristics.
“The 450 series has always set the bar for performance, technology, and reliability in the Indian electric scooter market,” said Ravneet Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy Limited. “With the launch of the 450S featuring a 3.7 kWh battery pack and an IDC range of 161 kms, we’re bringing the extended range previously exclusive to the 450X. The new 450S variant is specifically designed for riders who prioritize the sporty appeal and long-range capability of the 450 series over the advanced software features of the 450X. With an IDC range of 161 kms offered by the new 450S, riders can now confidently plan longer journeys and still experience the thrilling performance the 450 series is renowned for, all at a more accessible price.”
The 450S 3.7 kWh variant delivers performance specifications including a 5.4 kW motor producing 22 Nm of torque, 0-40 km/h acceleration in 3.9 seconds, and a top speed of 90 km/h. The scooter offers four ride modes: Smart Eco, Eco, Ride, and Sport, allowing riders to balance range and performance based on requirements.
Technical features include a 7-inch DeepView Display with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and automatic brightness adjustment. Safety features comprise AutoHold, Fall Safe, Emergency Stop Signal, auto indicator cut-off, Tow & Theft Alerts, Find my scooter, and Amazon Alexa Skills integration through AtherStack Pro. The variant receives over-the-air software updates.
The scooter provides access to Ather’s charging network spanning over 3,300 charging points across India. Home charging enables 0-80% battery charging in 4 hours 30 minutes. The company offers the Ather Eight70 warranty program providing 8-year or 80,000 km coverage with guaranteed minimum 70% battery health.
Pricing varies by city: INR 148,047 in Delhi, INR 148,258 in Mumbai, INR 145,999 in Bengaluru, and INR 147,312 in Chennai (all ex-showroom). Bookings are open through Ather’s retail network and online platforms, with deliveries expected from August 2025.
Ather Energy, founded in 2013, operates two product lines: the performance-focused 450 series and the family-oriented Rizta series. The company has installed 3,611 fast chargers globally, including 3,578 in India and 33 across Nepal and Sri Lanka as of March 31, 2025.
