Hero MotoCorp’s Vida brand of electric scooters has achieved cumulative 100,000 retail sales in India. Launched on October 7, 2022, Hero Vida has taken 34 months to cross 100,000-unit sales in the domestic market. From launch through till August 4, 2025, 100,195 units have been sold, as per data on the Vahan portal.
Dr. Pawan Munjal, chairman, Hero MotoCorp, unveiled the Vida brand on March 4, 2022. Sales have surged this year for the Vida 2 and VX2 e-scooters.
As the retail sales data table above depicts, 182 units were sold in November-December 2022, followed by 11,142 units in CY2023. Demand for the zero-emission Hero Vidas rose strongly in CY2024 with 43,709 units, which is a 292% year-on-year increase and gave Hero MotoCorp a 4% share of the record 1.14 million e-two-wheelers sold in India last year.
The Vida numbers have turned even better in the current calendar year. As exclusively revealed by Autocar Professional on August 1, riding on strong demand for the Vida V2 and the new VX2 Go and Plus, Hero MotoCorp registered its best-ever monthly retail Vida sales of 10,504 units in July 2025.
Hero Vida’s July 2025 sales, which are a 107% year-on-year increase (July 2024: 5,067 units), beat the company’s previous monthly best of 8,040 Vidas in March 2025 by a handsome margin of 2,464 units. This stellar performance in July 2025 has helped Hero MotoCorp achieve a monthly 10% market share for the first time from the 102,865 the Indian e-2W industry delivered to customers last month.
Hero Vida’s January-July 2025 sales at 43,885 units have already surpassed the CY2024 total of 43,709 units. This gives it a 6% share of the 719,428 e-2Ws sold in India between January 1-August 4 as compared to the 4% market share in CY2024. If the company maintains the same strong growth trajectory in the remaining five months of this year which includes the festive season, it could achieve 100,000-unit annual Vida sales for the first time since the Vida brand’s launch. The VX2 Plus and Go launched on July 1 with the BaaS option have powered sales in July 2025. Demand for the Vida brand took off with the V2, launched in December 2024 in three variants.
VIDA V2 and VX2 THE GROWTH DRIVERS
The surge in demand for the Hero Vida e-scooters is led by two new products. The first of these is the new Vida V2 launched in December 2024. The three-variant Vida 2 is essentially an evolution of the V1 range that Hero MotoCorp began its electric mobility journey.
What has strongly accelerated Hero Vida retail sales is the launch of the new Vida VX2 on July 1 at an e-2W-rival-worrying prices. In a strategic move designed to draw buyers, Hero MotoCorp slashed prices a week after the VX2’s launch. As per the company website, the VX2 Go now costs Rs 44,990 and the VX2 Plus Rs 57,990 with the Battery as a Service option that slashes the EV purchase cost, which makes them among the most affordable e-scooters in India.
Given the growing demand for the Vida brand, Hero MotoCorp is also expanding its sales and service network for the e-scooter. The company, which opened its first Experience Centre on November 2022, currently has coverage across India with over 200 touchpoints spanning 120 cities and 180-plus dealers. And, it enables Vida users to access charging at over 4,500 locations including the Ather Grid network owned by Ather Energy in which Hero MotoCorp is an early investor.
