BE 6, XEV 9e have 6.5% share of Mahindra SUV sales in January-July

In what is an indication of improving sales, July 2025 with 4,008 units has become the third month in a row that Mahindra & Mahindra’s two electric-origin SUVs – BE 6 and XEV 9e – have clocked wholesales of over 4,000 units. In tandem with the demand, production too has crossed 4,000 units in June (4,448 units) and in July (4,290 units).

As per the cumulative production and wholesales data for the first seven months of CY2025, a total of 24,205 BE 6 and XEV 9e zero-emission SUVs have been produced at the Chakan plant and 23,078 units dispatched to M&M dealers across the country. This period has also seen six of these e-SUVs exported – one in March, three in May, one each in June and July.

M&M’s Chakan plant has produced 24,205 units of the two electric-origin SUVs, of which 23,078 units have been delivered to showrooms and account for a 6.57% share of the company’s SUV wholesales between January and July 2025.

The 23,078 units of the BE 6 and XEV 9e give them a 6.57% share of the total 351,065 SUVs that M&M has sold between January and July 2025, up 20% year on year (January-July 2024: 291,971 units). M&M’s seven-month cumulative wholesales mean that it has already achieved 66% of its record CY2024 sales of 528,460 SUVs and sets the stage for the SUV manufacturer to drive past the 600,000 milestone for the first time in both the current calendar year as well as FY2026.

M&M SHARE OF ELECTRIC PV RETAIL SALES RISES TO 17%
For M&M, whose e-SUV portfolio also includes the XUV 400, the rollout of the BE 6 and XEV 9e in January this year and sales beginning from March has dynamically improved its retail market performance. A glance at the Vahan-sourced seven-month retail sales data above reveals just how the strongly the company’s market share has risen year on year.

Demand for the BE 6 and XEV 9e has meant that M&M’s share of India’s electric passenger vehicle market has jumped to 17% from 8% a year ago.

Between January and July 2025, the company has delivered 15,656 e-SUVs – the bulk of this total comprising the BE 6 and XEV 9e – to its customers. This constitutes an additional 11,234 units over the 4,401 XUV400s it sold in the year-ago period and handsome 255% YoY growth.

As a result of this stellar performance, M&M’s share of India’s overall electric passenger vehicle market, which comprises zero-emission hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs and MPVs, has jumped to 17% from 8% in the January-July 2024 period.

That’s not all. M&M’s strong showing has helped India e-PV Inc to hit record monthly retails of 15,754 units in July, up 96% YoY, and also cross 90,000 cumulative seven-month sales.

The company remains bullish on customer demand coming its way for these two premium zero-emission SUVs, which push the EV envelope with their high-performance drivetrains, in-house assembled lithium-ion phosphate battery packs, top-notch crash safety standards, and a host of interior features benchmarked to the highest level.

With the festive season beginning at the end of August with Ganesh Chaturthi, followed by Onam in early September, and Navratri and Diwali in October, expect Mahindra & Mahindra to ramp up production of the BE 6 and CEV 9e, as also for some of its popular ICE models like the Scorpio, 3XO, Thar Roxx and the XUV700.
