Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE), one of the world’s leading tractor manufacturers and the producer of Massey Ferguson tractors in India, has concluded the second edition of the Massey DYNASTAR Contest – Season 2, 2025, themed #SabseBadeAllrounder Ki Talaash. The initiative aims to identify and recognize innovative, scalable, and socially relevant agricultural solutions developed using the Massey Ferguson DYNATRACK 241 tractor.
The contest received over 16,000 entries from 26 states and 5 Union Territories across India. A total of 12 finalists were shortlisted, representing seven states: Assam, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh. Participants included farmers, rural entrepreneurs, and students of agricultural studies, reflecting a growing culture of grassroots innovation in India’s agricultural sector.
The grand finale was held recently in Chennai and evaluated by a jury panel comprising senior professionals from TAFE’s Sales & Marketing, Operations, and Product Management divisions. Finalists were assessed based on criteria including originality, technical feasibility, scalability, income generation potential, and societal impact.
Avinash Desai, a former IT professional turned farmer from Belgaum, Karnataka, was awarded the top prize for his concept of a mobile slurry dewatering machine powered by the DYNATRACK 241. As the winner, he received a new Massey Ferguson MF 254 DYNASMART 2WD tractor, valued at approximately ₹8.2 lakh.
Prateek Agarwal of Hojai, Assam, secured second place for proposing a solar-powered sustainable energy hub, and was awarded an 8-gram gold coin. Amrit Jot Singh from Patiala, Punjab, received third place for designing a water purification unit driven by the same tractor model, also earning an 8-gram gold coin.
Dr. Jayakumar Karuppusamy, a retired IAS officer from Kamrup Metropolitan, Assam, received the Jury’s Choice Award for his proposal of a multipurpose farm machine, and was presented with a 50-gram silver coin.
In the Institutional Category, the first prize was awarded to a team from the Agricultural Engineering College & Research Institute (Tamil Nadu Agricultural University), Kumulur, for their development of an 8-row tractor-mounted transplanter. The second prize went to a team from Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, Erode, for creating an automated multi-vegetable transplanter—both designed to be compatible with the Massey Ferguson DYNATRACK 241. The winning student teams have been offered internship opportunities at TAFE.
Prizes for the contest included a new tractor, gold and silver coins, innovation kits, and development grants. The competition underscores TAFE’s focus on supporting innovation in agriculture and fostering rural entrepreneurship through technology-enabled solutions.
The Massey DYNASTAR Contest serves as a platform to promote farmer-led research and development, aligning with TAFE’s broader vision of contributing to sustainable agricultural advancement in India.
Following the success of the second season, TAFE has announced that the Massey DYNASTAR Contest will return in 2026 with Season 3, aiming for wider participation, greater outreach, and increased impact across rural India.
