Electrify America opens 20-stall EV fast charger station in Santa Monica

Electrify America has announced the opening of its first electric vehicle charging station in Santa Monica, California. The station is equipped with 20 fast chargers rated up to 350 kW, which can add up to 20 miles of range per minute to EVs designed for high-power charging. The new site, located at 1802 Santa Monica Boulevard near the I-10 freeway, is designed to address increasing demand for public EV charging infrastructure in Southern California.

According to Electrify America, it operates the largest public network of 350 kW-capable chargers in the US. The Santa Monica station is accessible 24/7 and features on-site security cameras. All energy delivered on the Hyper-Fast charging network is backed by renewable energy certificates. The company reported more than 16 million charging sessions and over 600 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy delivered in 2024, marking a 65 percent increase from the previous year.

Since launching its first 350 kW charger in 2018 and enabling Plug and Charge authentication in 2020, Electrify America has focused on scaling its infrastructure with large stations and new technology. The company tests new equipment at its Technology Campus to support future EV models and aims to build additional large-scale charging facilities. Recent expansion sites include Harrison Street in San Francisco and Fashion Valley in San Diego, which Electrify America reports will serve as models for future deployments in 2025 and beyond.

“Our station in Santa Monica represents where EV charging is headed,” said President and CEO Robert Barrosa. “We’re focused on expanding where drivers need us most and building larger stations with more Hyper-Fast chargers. It’s about creating a network that works seamlessly for more people and powering their journeys across North America.”
