To ensure its dealership across the country are well-stocked to meet demand for this model, M&M has consistently ramped up production. Over four years till end-July 2025, M&M has rolled out 307,283 XUV700s from its Chakan, Pune factory. From the 67,654 units in FY2023, production increased by 31% to 88,443 units in FY2024, and by 8% to 95,734 units in FY2025. Factory output of the XUV700 in the first four months of FY2026 at 29,046 units is up 24% YoY (April-July 2024: 23,479 units).
M&M has optimised the production-sales equation for the XUV700. While 307,283 units have been manufactured till July 2025, 304,725 units have been sold (domestic and exports), leaving just 2,558 units as dealer inventory.
The XUV700, which has averaged monthly sales of 6,624 units in the first four months of FY2026 and was just 8,288 units shy of the 300,000 sales milestone in the domestic market at end-July 2025, will achieve the same in early September.
The feature-packed cabin is big on the wow factor, thanks to the twin screens.
In March 2022, the Mahindra XUV700 drove away with the prestigious Autocar India Car of the Year 2022 title, having impressed the jury with its modern and tech-driven cabin with the in-vehicle infotainment and driver digital clusters being supplied by Visteon, best-in-class engine options and lengthy features list. The XUV700 was also declared the winner of the ‘Value for Money Car of the Year’ and ‘Executive SUV of the Year’ awards.
The XUV700 raced to the 250,000-units mark in 36 months after launch. While the first 50,000 units were sold in 12 months, the 100,000 milestone came up 22 months. The run from 100,000 to 200,000 units took 15 months, with the last 50,000 units to 250,000 taking just six months.
The ADAS-equipped XUV700 has 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, customisable voice alerts for speeding, and seatbelts with lap and retractor pre-tensioners.
DIESEL XUV700 COMMANDS 77% SHARE OF SALES IN APRIL-JULY 2025
Mahindra sells the XUV700 in both 5- and 7-seater configurations, and with a number of powertrain options. There are all of 38 variants, comprising 22 diesel and 16 diesel, on offer. The 2-litre turbocharged mStallion engine powers the petrol XUV700, developing 200hp and a meaty 380Nm of torque. On the diesel front, the XUV700 is available with two different tunes for the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine – 155hp with 360Nm of torque and 185hp with an impressive 420Nm of torque.
Paired with the engines are two transmission options: a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The base-spec MX trim is only available with a 6-speed manual whilst all other variants offer a choice of either a manual or automatic transmission. Mahindra also offers the XUV700 with all-wheel-drive option for the AX7 and AX7L trims.
The XUV700 has a very wide price range, starting from Rs 17.42 lakh for the base 2.0P MX (5-seater) manual petrol through to Rs 32.49 lakh (on-road) for the 2.2D AX7 AT AWD L diesel (7-seater). In this price range, it rivals both 5- and 7-seater SUVs such as the Tata Harrier and Safari, MG Hector and Hector Plus, and Hyundai Creta and Alcazar. This Mahindra SUV also gives a fight to the MPV benchmark – Toyota Innova Crysta and HyCross models – with its value offering and product positioning.
The fuel-wise sales stats for the XUV700 prove that demand for the diesel variant continues to grow. From the 71% share in FY2024, sales of the diesel variants increased to 75% in FY2025 and are currently at 75% in the first four months of FY2026.
Fuel-wise, demand for the diesel-powered XUV700 remains very strong (see fuel-wise sales split table above). As per company data, of the 198,978 XUV700s sold between FY2024 and April-July 2026, diesel variants accounted for 146,952 units or 74% while petrol variants (52,026 units) made up the balance 24 percent.
M&M DRIVES TOWARDS ANOTHER RECORD YEAR AND FISCAL
Between August 2021, when the XUV700 was introduced, and July 2024, M&M has sold a total of 1.73 million SUVs in the domestic market. This means the XUV700 with its 291,712 units has a 17% share of the 1,734,192 SUVs the company has sold in the past 48 months.
M&M’s January-July 2025 SUV sales at 351,065 units are already 66% of its 528,460 units in CY2024. And, in FY2026, the first four months’ 201,938 units are 37% of FY2025’s record 551,487 units.
In August 2021, M&M had a 15% share of India’s utility vehicle market. Four years after the XUV700’s launch and accompanied by some new models like the XUV 3XO, Thar Roxx and the two electric-origin SUVs BE 6 and XEV 9e, M&M currently (April-July 2025: 201,938 UVs, up 22%) has a 22% UV market share in an expanded SUV market which is teeming with rivals. Only Maruti Suzuki, with 214,641 UVs and a 24% market share is ahead of M&M.
Mahindra & Mahindra, which achieved the 500,000 annual sales milestone for the first time in CY2024, and went to improve upon that score in FY2025 with 551,487 SUVs, is driving towards another record calendar year and fiscal.
The SUV maker’s cumulative wholesales of 351,065 units, up 20% YoY (January-July 2024: 291,971 units) are already 66% of its CY2024 sales of 528,460 units. And the 201,938 units in the first four months of FY2026 s 201,938 units, up 21% YoY (April-July 2024: 165,871 units) are 37% of its record sales of 551,487 SUVs in FY2025 with eight months still to go in the current fiscal year.
This stellar performance sets the stage for M&M, which is riding a wave of surging demand for its SUVs, to drive past the 600,000 milestone for the first time in both the current calendar year as well as FY2026.
