Maruti Suzuki’s compact SUV FRONX achieved a cumulative production of 5 lakh units in 28 months since production began, the company announced. The vehicle, launched in 2023, became the highest exported passenger vehicle in the industry in FY 2024-25, with one in every five units manufactured being exported.
The FRONX was among the top 10 selling vehicles in the domestic market during FY 2024-25. It achieved the fastest 1 lakh sales within 10 months from launch and registered its highest monthly sales of over 21,400 units in February 2025.
“We are deeply grateful to our customers for choosing FRONX as their vehicle of choice and making it one of the most sold Compact SUVs in India,” said Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India. “This milestone reflects India’s manufacturing excellence and customer acceptance for vehicles with futuristic design. With its bold styling, best-in-class fuel efficiency, and advanced technology features, FRONX quickly gained popularity in domestic as well as international markets. As we move forward, we remain committed to deliver exciting and value-packed products that exceed the expectations of our customers.”
The FRONX holds the distinction of being the first ‘Made in India’ SUV from Maruti Suzuki to be exported to Japan. These Japan exports helped FRONX become the fastest SUV to achieve 1 lakh exports. The vehicle is also exported to Latin America, Middle East, and Africa.
Unveiled globally at Auto Expo 2023, the FRONX features bold styling and advanced technology including Head-Up Display, 360 View Camera, wireless smartphone charger, and 9″ HD Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The SUV offers cutting-edge powertrain options including a turbo engine.
The vehicle achieved its 2 lakh and 3 lakh production milestones in record time following its initial success. Maruti Suzuki commenced FRONX exports in 2023, contributing to its international market presence across multiple regions.
