Wardwizard Innovations Partners with Battery Smart to Introduce Battery Swapping for Electric Two-Wheelers

Wardwizard Innovations & Mobility Limited, a manufacturer of electric two-wheelers under the Joy e-bike and Joy e-rik brands, has announced a strategic collaboration with Battery Smart, a battery-swapping network operator in India.

Under the agreement, Battery Smart will deploy its battery-swapping infrastructure at Joy e-bike dealership locations across the country. The initiative introduces a “battery-as-a-service” model, allowing customers to purchase Joy e-bike vehicles without the battery, thereby reducing the upfront cost of the vehicle by an estimated 20% to 30%. Customers can then rent swappable batteries from Battery Smart on a usage-based payment model. Dealers and distributors will have the option to install swapping stations at their premises, potentially creating an additional revenue stream while supporting the expansion of Battery Smart’s network.

Initially, the integration will be available on select Joy e-bike models, including the Globe and Gen Next variants, with plans to extend the feature to other models in the future. These vehicles will be compatible with Battery Smart’s existing network of swapping stations, which are currently operational in cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru. A phased nationwide rollout is scheduled to begin in January 2026.

Yatin Gupte, Chairman and Managing Director of Wardwizard Innovations & Mobility Limited, stated that the partnership aims to address key challenges in electric vehicle adoption—namely high initial costs and concerns about range. He noted that separating the battery from the vehicle purchase could make electric mobility more accessible and convenient for consumers.

The collaboration marks Battery Smart’s first B2C pilot initiative and is intended to support the development of sustainable and scalable mobility solutions for individual users as well as the B2B segment.
