Renault India has introduced the facelift of Kiger in the compact SUV market, with introductory prices ranging from ₹6.29 lakh to ₹11.29 lakh (ex-showroom). The launch comes as the company seeks to sustain sales momentum until the relaunch of the Duster, its most iconic nameplate in India.
Renault closed FY2024-25 with sales of around 37,900 units, with the Kiger accounting for more than half of its domestic volumes. Since its launch in 2021, the compact SUV has played a pivotal role in Renault’s portfolio and in expanding the B-SUV segment. At the time of Kiger’s debut, the segment accounted for 12 percent of the Indian passenger vehicle market; by 2025, it had grown to 31 percent.
Francisco, Vice-President – Sales & Marketing, Renault India, said the facelift aligns with the company’s broader transformation roadmap. “Renault Rethink is a strategy that rethinks the way we are doing business in India and sets a very clear commitment: we are here to grow,” he said, adding that the Kiger has been a catalyst in shaping the B-SUV category and continues to be central to Renault’s India volumes.
Venkatram Mamillapalle, MD & CEO of Renault India, underlined that the company has made decisive steps to strengthen its India operations. “Under our Indian business transformation strategy, we launched the Renault Design Centre in Chennai, our largest outside Europe, and took full ownership of the R&A PL plant to accelerate our Make in India for the world vision,” he said. On the Kiger, he added: “We have proudly presented the new Renault Kiger, strategically positioned in the compact SUV segment, which is growing faster than all others and contributes more than half of SUV sales in India.”
Mamillapalle also emphasised affordability as a key plank of Renault’s strategy. “We want to bring performance back to the conversation and make sure that everyone will be able to afford it. That’s why we are launching the new Kiger with special introductory prices of ₹9.99 lakh for the fully loaded turbo variant, and ₹6.29 lakh for the energy range,” he said.
On the technical front, Achyutan Nair, Vice-President Engineering, explained that the new Kiger continues to leverage lightweighting and localisation. The body structure uses 50 percent high-strength steel to balance weight and crash safety. The 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 100PS and, according to Renault, delivers the best torque-to-weight ratio in the segment. The CVT gearbox features an adaptive step-shift algorithm, and the car offers three driving modes. Renault has also focused on space utilisation, storage, and extensive endurance testing across India’s varied conditions.
Design and feature updates include a new front fascia with a revised grille, taller skid plates and a new OSS Yellow colour option. A full LED lighting package and 16-inch alloy wheels have been added. Inside, the cabin gets dual-tone interiors, ventilated front seats and a reworked dashboard. The equipment list has been expanded to include a multi-view camera, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone replication, and wireless charging.
Abhinav, Marketing Head, said the facelift is positioned under Renault’s design theme of “Express.” “With its new persona and elevated performance, the Kiger inspires individuals to express themselves with freedom and flair,” he said.
Safety has also been upgraded, with six airbags now standard across variants, supported by 21 features including ESP, Hill Start Assist and TPMS. The model retains its 205mm ground clearance, roof bars with a 50kg load rating, and front and rear skid plates.
Renault said the facelifted Kiger will help it sustain market share against rivals such as the Tata Punch, Hyundai Exter and Maruti Suzuki Fronx until the relaunch of the Duster.
