EKA Mobility delivered three 9-meter electric buses to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, under a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative funded by Power Grid Corporation of India. The electric vehicle company secured the order through a reverse auction on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal following an AIIMS tender.
The buses feature a 23+1 seating configuration with pushback seats, wheelchair accessibility, and hydraulic lifts for differently-abled passengers. The vehicles will provide last-mile mobility solutions for patients, staff, and visitors at the medical institute.
Shri R.K. Tyagi, Chairman & Managing Director of Power Grid, and Dr. M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS, ceremonially flagged off the initiative. Senior officials from both organizations attended the event, including Shri Yatindra Dwivedi, Director (Personnel), Shri Vikram Singh Bhal, Executive Director (CMG), and Shri Jasbir Singh, Executive Director (CSR) from Power Grid Corporation.
“We are proud to partner with AIIMS and Power Grid Corporation of India to deliver these advanced buses that combine comfort, safety, and accessibility. This initiative reflects our shared commitment to sustainable and inclusive mobility for all,” said Rohit Srivastava, Business Head & Chief Growth Officer at EKA Mobility.
The buses are designed to ensure differently-abled individuals can travel with dignity and ease while providing sustainable transportation solutions at the medical facility.
