Hyundai Motor India Sales Edge Up 0.7% MoM in August, Exports Up 21%

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) reported total sales of 60,501 units in August 2025, consisting of 44,001 units sold in the domestic market and 16,500 units exported.

When compared with July 2025, the August numbers mark a modest month-on-month rise. Domestic sales increased marginally from 43,973 units in July to 44,001 units in August, a gain of just 28 vehicles. Exports, however, showed stronger momentum, rising from 16,100 units in July to 16,500 units in August, an increase of 400 units. This pushed overall sales up from 60,073 units in July to 60,501 units in August.

On a year-on-year basis, Hyundai highlighted that exports grew by an impressive 21 percent in August 2025. The company has already shipped 1,18,840 units between January and August this year, reinforcing India’s role as Hyundai’s largest export hub outside South Korea.

SUVs continue to be Hyundai’s domestic growth driver. In July, SUVs contributed nearly 72 percent of the company’s domestic sales, led by the Creta, which remains the brand’s best-selling model. This trend has given Hyundai a firm edge in India’s highly competitive utility vehicle segment, where it has been regaining share against rivals like Tata Motors and Mahindra.

Hyundai’s upcoming launches, including a refreshed Venue and the ramp-up of production at its Talegaon plant, are expected to further strengthen its market performance in the coming months. With steady domestic demand, robust exports, and a strong SUV portfolio, the company remains well placed to capitalise on the upcoming festive season.
