VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV), the joint venture between Volvo Group and Eicher Motors, signed a memorandum of understanding with Jio-bp pulse to provide VECV’s electric commercial vehicle customers access to India’s largest DC fast-charging network of over 6,000 charging points across urban centers and highways.
The partnership addresses a critical infrastructure barrier for electric commercial vehicle adoption by integrating Jio-bp’s extensive charging network directly into VECV’s My Eicher fleet management application. This marks the first integration of a public charging network into a commercial vehicle manufacturer’s app, enabling real-time visibility of charger locations and availability for fleet operators.
VECV, operational since July 2008 as a multi-brand, multi-division company with over 990 touchpoints, will leverage this partnership to accelerate electric mobility adoption across India’s trucking and bus sectors. The collaboration combines VECV’s expertise in electric commercial vehicle technology with Jio-bp pulse’s charging infrastructure capabilities.
Under the agreement, both companies will work together to promote the transition to electric mobility among Eicher Trucks and Buses customers. The partnership will also explore depot-level charging solutions and custom infrastructure projects for large electric vehicle fleets and bus operations, with separate agreements to follow based on customer requirements.
“The MoU with Jio-bp pulse represents a major milestone in our journey to electrify trucking in India,” said Vinod Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO of VECV. “By integrating Jio-bp pulse’s extensive charging network into our My Eicher app, we are resolving a critical barrier to electric fleet adoption by facilitating seamless access to high-power chargers wherever our vehicles operate. The collaboration between VECV and Jio-bp pulse will accelerate the transition to zero-emission logistics, ensuring our customers can confidently embrace electric mobility at scale.”
Sarthak Behuria, Chairman of Jio-bp, said, “Collaboration between Jio-bp and VECV represents a significant step forward in our vision to transform India’s mobility landscape. Electric mobility is a cornerstone of this transformation, and this partnership plays a pivotal role in electrifying the critical trucking sector and driving EV adoption among fleet operators. Every such alliance brings us closer to realizing the Government’s ambitious goal of widespread electric vehicle adoption across the country.”
Jio-bp pulse operates as the electric mobility arm of Reliance BP Mobility Limited, a joint venture between Reliance Industries and bp. The company has invested over Rs 1,000 crore in its EV business and aims to leverage Reliance Jio’s digital ecosystem to offer smart mobility solutions. The joint venture focuses on strategic sites in key transport routes and urban centers, and expects to double the number of charging points installed by the end of 2025.
The partnership represents a significant development in India’s electric commercial vehicle ecosystem, where charging infrastructure availability remains a key concern for fleet operators considering the transition from diesel-powered vehicles. By providing integrated access to charging networks through fleet management applications, the collaboration aims to reduce operational uncertainties and support broader electric vehicle adoption in the commercial transportation sector.
VECV’s electric vehicle portfolio includes the complete range of Eicher branded electric trucks and buses, supported by the company’s network of manufacturing facilities across India and comprehensive after-sales service infrastructure.
