Classic Legends Reduces Jawa, Yezdi Motorcycle Prices Following GST Cut

Classic Legends announced revised pricing for its Jawa and Yezdi motorcycle lineup following the government’s GST 2.0 reforms that reduced tax rates from 28% to 18% for motorcycles below 350cc displacement.

The company confirmed it will pass the complete GST benefit to customers, making most models in its range—including Adventure, Roadster, Bobber, and Scrambler variants—available under Rs 2 lakh. The price reduction affects motorcycles powered by the company’s 293cc and 334cc Alpha2 liquid-cooled engines.

Anupam Thareja, Co-founder of Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles, described the GST reforms as creating “a tectonic shift for the greater good” and welcomed the policy change that makes mid-segment motorcycles more accessible to riders.

The reduced GST rate applies to both engine platforms used across the Jawa and Yezdi range. The larger 334cc Alpha2 engine produces 29PS power and 30Nm torque. Classic Legends noted that while the reform increases taxes on higher displacement motorcycles like their 652cc BSA Gold Star, it supports broader market accessibility.

Classic Legends will extend GST 2.0 benefits to after-sales components, reducing overall ownership costs for customers. All motorcycles continue to be covered under the company’s “Jawa Yezdi BSA Ownership Assurance Programme,” which includes a 4-year/50,000-kilometer warranty, extended coverage options up to six years, and one year of roadside assistance.

The company operates over 450 sales and service touchpoints across India, having doubled its network presence. Classic Legends holds the rights to manufacture and distribute Jawa, Yezdi, and BSA motorcycle brands in India and international markets.

The pricing adjustment coincides with India’s festive season, traditionally a period of increased vehicle purchases. Classic Legends positions the move as making “iconic classic motorcycles” more achievable for young Indian consumers seeking heritage-styled performance motorcycles.

Both Jawa and Yezdi brands previously held significant market positions in India before policy changes in earlier decades led to their withdrawal from the domestic market. The current GST reform represents what the company characterizes as a policy shift that could restore these brands to prominence in India’s two-wheeler segment.
