Tata Communications has announced a strategic partnership with Cisco to address growing challenges in enterprise Internet of Things (IoT) deployments through enhanced eSIM technology integration.
The collaboration will embed Tata Communications MOVE™, a global eSIM orchestration solution that delivers 350 million eSIM Operating Systems across 200+ countries, into Cisco’s IoT Control Center platform. Cisco’s device management platform currently serves over 32,000 enterprises and supports more than 270 million SIM IoT devices, including 100 million connected vehicles.
The partnership aims to resolve common IoT deployment obstacles including fragmented SIM hardware from multiple vendors, complex device provisioning processes, and limited interoperability between different networks and technologies. These issues typically slow rollouts, increase operational costs, and restrict scalability for organizations expanding their IoT operations.
Through the integrated solution, enterprises will gain the ability to activate and manage devices across multiple SIM providers, private and public networks, and eSIM standards from a unified platform. The companies state this approach will accelerate time-to-market while providing deeper visibility and control across IoT deployments.
Industries expected to benefit significantly include transportation, logistics, and manufacturing, where reliable connectivity is essential for operations. Use cases range from trucking companies activating trailers across international borders without local SIM cards to utility providers monitoring infrastructure across both private and public networks.
Marco Bijvelds, Vice President and Global Head of Tata Communications MOVE™, emphasized the transformative potential of evolving eSIM technologies in enterprise IoT management. He highlighted how the combination of Tata’s intelligent IoT infrastructure with Cisco’s established device management capabilities could streamline operations and accelerate digital transformation initiatives.
Masum Mir, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cisco Provider Mobility, noted the foundational role of eSIM technology in addressing enterprise needs for simplicity, automation, and scalability in managing complex IoT deployments. He specifically mentioned the technology’s importance for managing connected vehicles throughout their entire lifecycle from manufacturing to end-use.
The partnership represents a significant development in the IoT industry’s move toward greater interoperability and standardization. Both companies indicated their commitment to establishing new benchmarks for IoT connectivity that prioritize scalability, lifecycle intelligence, and seamless integration across different network environments.
Tata Communications, part of the Tata Group, operates as a global digital ecosystem enabler serving more than 190 countries and territories. The company counts 300 Fortune 500 companies among its customers and maintains connections to 80% of major cloud service providers globally.
The collaboration builds on the companies’ existing partnership history and reflects broader industry trends toward simplified IoT management solutions as enterprises increasingly rely on connected devices for critical business operations.
