London. The debut of Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama at the BMW PGA Championship has been nothing short of a success story so far. After two days, the 2021 Masters Champion, who delivered the tournament’s best round so far with a 64 on Friday, leads the world-class field with a total score of 12 under par. Hot on his heels are three players from the European Ryder Cup team: Ludvig Åberg (SWE), Viktor Hovland (NOR), and Justin Rose (ENG, all -11). One stroke further back is Spain’s Pablo Larrazábal, winner of the BMW International Open in 2011 and 2015, in fifth place. Other high-profile names, such as Major winners Matt Fitzpatrick (ENG) and Patrick Reed (USA, both -7), are within striking distance, promising a spectacular weekend ahead.
