The Maruti Victoris has achieved a five-star Global NCAP rating. This comes close on the heels of the SUV also securing a 5-star rating under the Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) crash tests.
In the Global NCAP result announced today, the Victoris recorded an Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) score of 33.72 out of 34 and a Child Occupant Protection (COP) score of 41 out of 49, placing it among the top-performing models tested by GNCAP so far.
The assessment further says that during the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Victoris offered good protection to critical areas such as the driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs, left tibia and feet, while chest and right tibia protection was rated adequate. Also, for the co-driver, uniformly good protection across all body regions was seen.
In the side impact test with a movable deformable barrier, the Victoris once again performed well, with every area of the driver’s body showing good protection, except for the chest which was deemed “adequate”. The Victoris’ bodyshell was rated as “stable”, underlining its structural integrity.
The Victoris received full marks in child assesment tests as well, in the dynamic tests with child restraint systems. According to Global NCAP, both the 18-month-old and 3-year-old dummies received maximum points for frontal and side impact protection. It also secured full points for child restraint installation compatibility, although the vehicle assessment score stood at 5 out of 13.
The Victoris comes well-loaded with a long list of safety and tech features which include six airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, ABS with EBD, hill-hold assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, three-point seatbelts with reminders for all passengers, rear parking sensors and overspeed alerts. Higher variants also get features like a 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake with auto-hold and Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
The Victoris rivals the likes of a long list of mid-size SUVSs that include Maruti’s own Grand Vitara SUV, the Toyota Hyryder, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Tata Curvv, Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun among others.
