Toyota Kirloskar Motor Adds 6 Airbags Standard Across All Rumion Variants

The safety upgrade includes dual front airbags, two side airbags, and two curtain shield airbags on all Rumion models. Previously, the number of airbags varied by trim level across the vehicle’s range.

Additionally, Toyota has introduced a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) on the top V grade variant. The system continuously monitors tire pressure to provide drivers with real-time information about tire conditions.

The Rumion, positioned as a family-oriented MPV in the Indian market, features a 1.5-liter K-Series engine available in both petrol and compressed natural gas (CNG) configurations. The company reports fuel efficiency figures of up to 20.51 km/l for the manual transmission petrol variant and 26.11 km/kg for the CNG option.

The vehicle includes Toyota’s i-Connect system offering smartwatch compatibility, voice assistant support, and remote vehicle controls. Interior features include flexible seating arrangements with 60:40 split second-row seats, air conditioning for second and third rows, and a 17.78 cm infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Safety features beyond the airbag system include Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Hold Assist, ABS with Electronic Brake Distribution, Brake Assist, and ISOFIX child seat mounting points. Toyota provides a standard 3-year/100,000 km warranty, extendable to 5 years/220,000 km.

The Rumion starts at ₹10.44 lakh ex-showroom and is available through Toyota dealerships and the company’s online platform. The vehicle competes in India’s growing MPV segment, which serves families seeking spacious transportation options.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor operates two manufacturing plants in Bidadi, Karnataka, with a combined production capacity of up to 342,000 units annually. The company is a joint venture between Japan’s Toyota Motor Corporation (89% stake) and India’s Kirloskar Systems Limited (11% stake).
