Ultraviolette Launches New Crossover E-Motorcycle X47 at Introductory Price of Rs 2.49 Lakh

Premium electric two-wheeler maker Ultraviolette on Tuesday launched a new motorcycle X47 at a starting price of Rs 2.74 lakh, which the company says is a crossover that can be used for multiple use cases such as daily and adventure rides. The company’s co-founder  Narayan Subramaniam says at this pricing, X47 brings price parity with midsize ICE motorcycles. For the first 1,000 bookings, the vehicle is priced at Rs 2.49 lakh.

The launch of the X47 marks a significant strategic shift for Ultraviolette, as it is now the most affordable model in the company’s lineup. Previously, the TVS-backed brand was a niche player known for its high-performance F77 electric motorcycle, which is priced above Rs 3 lakh and targets a small segment of performance enthusiasts in India and some European markets. Ultraviolette has also earned the record for the fastest electric motorcycle brand in India with its F99 prototype, further cementing its reputation for performance and innovation.

The X47 is powered by by a 40 HP (30 kW) motor and provides a claimed range of upto 323 km on a single charge. The vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph in 2.7 seconds and from 0 to 100 kmph in 8.1 seconds, reaching a top speed of 145 kmph. It has a power output of 40 HP (30 kW) motor, and a torque of 610 Nm.

The model comes with advanced safety and performance features such as a dual-channel ABS, a patented dynamic stability control system, complemented by a five-level safety system. The motorcycle also incorporates cutting-edge radar technology for functions like blind-spot detection, lane-keep assist, overtake warnings, and rear-collision alerts. For optimal handling, it offers four levels of traction control, and comes with an onboard charger.

The Bengaluru-based startup currently has a presence in 30 cities across India and has also unveiled its models in 10 European countries. With electrification gaining momentum in India, the company has an aggressive expansion plan to capture a larger market share, with a goal of expanding its network to 100 cities in the near future.

Electrification in India has so far been driven mostly by scooters priced under Rs 1.5 lakh. Bajaj Auto, Ola Electric, TVS Motor and Ather Energy are the major players in this segment. Currently the penetration of electric vehicles in the scooter segment is around 15%. In contrast, the electric motorcycle segment is yet to see significant traction in India with limited offerings from a few startups.

Ola Electric recently rolled out its first electric motorcycle Roadster, while Ather Energy is working on a platform named Zenith to come out with electric motorcycles targeting the 125-300 cc segment users. Among traditional players, Royal Enfield has already announced its plans to enter the electric motorcycle space with Flying Flea brand while Hero MotorCorp is set to introduce electric motorcycles mostly from 2026.

Earlier this year, Ultraviolette annouced its entry into two new categories apart from performance models with an electric scooter Tesseract, starting at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.45 lakh, and light electric motorcycle Shockwave, starting at Rs 1.75 lakh. The company has opened bookings for these two models, but is yet to start deliveries.

While unveiling these two models in March, the company’s management said they have plans to add 12 new products to its line-up over the next three years and raise its annual sales to at least 1 lakh units over the next three-four years.
