Stellantis will temporarily suspend the production of its Mulhouse factory from October 27 to November 2, 2025. The automaker intends to face the low demand on a “difficult” European market and wants to manage its stocks more effectively, according to a spokesperson.

This measure concerns around 2,000 employees out of the 4,700 who work in the factory, which manufactures the Peugeot 308 and 408, and the Citroën DS7. What worry the employees, to whom the news was announced this Tuesday, September 30, 2025 in the CSE (Social and Economic Committee). “There is a lot of concern among employees about the sustainability of the site, explains Salah Keltoumi, CGT delegate. Some are wondering if we will close permanently.”

According to the trade unionist, the context at Stellantis Mulhouse is special. “The management was to announce the production of a new car a year ago, but the announcement was postponed. However, we are told that we would go from 600 vehicles produced per day to 400 next year, without a specific date,” deplores Salah Keltoumi.

The news comes a few days after Stellantis’ announcement to temporarily close other European sites: Poissy, near Paris, Pomigliano (Italy), Eisenach (Germany), Saragosse and Madrid (Spain) and Tychy (Poland). These stops are scheduled from the end of September and for a maximum duration of three weeks.
