Kia India Opens 100th Green Workshop, Targets 150 by 2026

Kia India has inaugurated its 100th Green Workshop in Kanpur at Bright Kia dealership, two years after launching the sustainability initiative in 2023 at Ransh Kia in Rohtak. The mass-premium automobile manufacturer plans to expand the eco-friendly service network to over 150 workshops by 2026 as part of its aftersales sustainability program.

The 100 green workshops collectively generate 7.9 MW of solar power, enabling the company to prevent approximately 9,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually — equivalent to the absorption capacity of 450,000 mature trees. The facilities incorporate rainwater harvesting systems, natural lighting, motion-sensor technology for energy efficiency, effluent treatment plants, steam wash systems for water conservation, and waterless urinals.

“Achieving the milestone of 100 Green Workshops within a short span of two years underscores Kia India’s commitment to building a sustainable mobility ecosystem. Each workshop brings us closer to a world where progress doesn’t come at the planet’s cost. This initiative, alongside our portfolio of three EVs, is a significant reflection of our continued efforts to reduce environmental impact, enhance operational efficiency, and shape a cleaner, smarter mobility for our future generations,” said Atul Sood, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Kia India.

The workshops also feature a comprehensive recycling program for automotive waste, including used batteries, waste oil, and hazardous materials, aligned with global best practices. According to the company, their initiative focuses on reducing reliance on conventional resources through renewable energy integration and advanced water and energy conservation practices.

Kia India operates a manufacturing facility in Anantapur District, Andhra Pradesh, with an installed annual production capacity of 300,000 units. The company has completed approximately 1.5 million vehicle dispatches since commencing mass production in August 2019, including over 1.2 million domestic sales and 367,000 exports.

The automaker has launched nine vehicles in India — Seltos, Syros, Sonet, Carens, Carnival, EV6, EV9, Carens Clavis, and Carens Clavis EV. The company maintains 796 touchpoints across 360 cities and has over 470,000 connected cars on Indian roads.
