Hero MotoCorp Posts 8% YoY Growth in September 2025, Dispatches 687,220 Units

Hero MotoCorp heralded the festive season with robust sales performance, dispatching 687,220 units in September 2025, registering an 8% year-on-year growth compared to 637,050 units sold in September 2024. The performance also marked a substantial 24% month-on-month improvement over August 2025’s 553,727 units, signaling strong consumer demand as the festive season kicks in.

September Performance Highlights

The company’s September dispatches comprised 626,217 motorcycles and 61,003 scooters, showing improved momentum across both categories. While motorcycle sales grew modestly by 4.8% year-on-year from 597,529 units, the scooter segment witnessed exceptional growth of 54.4%, surging from 39,521 units in September 2024 to 61,003 units this year.

Domestic dispatches stood at 647,582 units in September 2025, up 5% from 616,706 units in the same month last year. The export business demonstrated remarkable performance, nearly doubling with 39,638 units compared to 20,344 units in September 2024—a phenomenal 94.8% growth that marked the highest ever monthly export dispatch for the company.

Sequential Growth Momentum

The month-on-month comparison reveals even stronger dynamics, with September’s 687,220 units representing a substantial 24% jump from August’s 553,727 units. This sequential acceleration underscores the onset of festive season buying, traditionally a high-demand period for two-wheelers in India.

Motorcycle dispatches grew 21% month-on-month from August, while scooters saw an even sharper 36% sequential increase, indicating strong consumer preference across product categories as the festive season commenced.

Year-to-Date Performance

For the first half of fiscal year 2026 (April-September 2025), Hero MotoCorp dispatched 3,057,772 units, marginally ahead of the 3,054,840 units in the corresponding period last year. The company recorded 11.3% growth in Q2 FY26 compared to the previous year, driven by strategic portfolio diversification.

However, the year-to-date figures reveal contrasting segment trends. While scooter dispatches jumped 29.2% to 255,506 units from 197,750 units, motorcycle volumes declined 1.9% to 2,802,266 units from 2,857,090 units in the year-ago period.

Market Share and Retail Momentum

Hero MotoCorp recorded 323,230 VAHAN registrations in September 2025, reflecting a robust 19% year-on-year growth. The company noted that showroom and dealership footfalls have more than doubled compared to last year’s festive season, with significant traction in the high-volume commuter segment. The combination of festive spirit and new GST benefits has led to a sharp rise in bookings and inquiries.

Electric Vehicle Success

VIDA, Hero’s electric mobility brand, continued its impressive growth trajectory with 12,736 VAHAN registrations in September. The brand’s market share surged dramatically from 4.7% to 12.2% year-on-year, led by the recently launched VIDA V2 scooter. Demand for VIDA products remains ahead of supply in several key markets, indicating robust traction for the company’s EV business.

Global Expansion Accelerates

Hero MotoCorp’s international business achieved a milestone quarter, reporting the highest ever Q2 dispatch of 111,584 units. The September export figure of 39,638 units represented the company’s strongest monthly global performance, driven by the launch of three key models—Hunk 125R, Hunk 160, and HR Deluxe—in international markets.

The export growth of 94.8% significantly outpaced industry trends, demonstrating Hero’s expanding global footprint and successful market penetration strategies.

Historic Production Milestone

Alongside its strong sales performance, Hero MotoCorp achieved a landmark feat by becoming the first Indian company to surpass 125 million cumulative two-wheeler production units. This milestone underscores the company’s manufacturing prowess and dominant position in the global two-wheeler industry.

Hero MotoCorp has launched 12 new or refreshed products since the last festive season, positioning itself to capitalize on sustained positive consumer sentiment. The company’s extensive portfolio and expanded retail network are expected to drive continued momentum through the remainder of the festive season.

The strategic diversification into newer segments, coupled with the strong performance of its electric vehicle business and expanding global presence, positions Hero MotoCorp for sustained growth despite the competitive market dynamics and monsoon-related challenges witnessed earlier in the fiscal year.

With festive season demand traditionally peaking in October and November, industry watchers expect Hero MotoCorp to maintain its growth trajectory, supported by its comprehensive product lineup, strong dealer network, and growing acceptance of its electric mobility offerings.
