Kia India Strengthens Leadership with Key Role Transitions

Kia India, a leading premium carmaker, has announced a strategic leadership transition with the appointment of Sunhack Park as Chief Sales Officer (CSO) and Joonsu Cho as Chief Business Officer (CBO). The move is aimed at reinforcing the company’s growth strategy and operational efficiency in the rapidly evolving Indian automotive market.

In his new role as Chief Sales Officer, Sunhack Park will lead Kia India’s sales strategy with a focus on sustainable growth, enhanced operational efficiency, and expanded market presence. Park brings 28 years of international automotive experience, having held senior leadership positions at Kia Headquarters in South Korea, as well as across the Middle East & Africa (MEA) region and India.

Commenting on his appointment, Park said, “I am privileged to take on the role of Chief Sales Officer. This is an exciting phase for the brand as we continue to expand our presence in a dynamic and evolving market. My focus will be on driving sales growth, optimizing operational efficiency, and strengthening our dealer and partner ecosystem.”

Joonsu Cho, now serving as Chief Business Officer, will be responsible for devising and executing comprehensive business strategies, overseeing production planning, managing export logistics, leading cross-functional teams, forging strategic partnerships, and ensuring operational excellence. Cho brings over 32 years of leadership experience, with previous roles spanning Australia, the UK, and Europe.

Speaking on his new role, Cho said, “I am honored to assume the role of Chief Business Officer. Kia India has made remarkable strides in the market, and my priority will be to develop and execute robust business strategies that support sustainable growth and operational excellence.”

This leadership transition underscores Kia India’s commitment to strengthening its operations and sustaining its growth trajectory in the country. With a robust leadership team in place, the brand aims to continue driving innovation, operational efficiency, and customer-centric growth in India’s competitive automotive market.

Kia India commenced operations following a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh in April 2017 to build a manufacturing facility in Anantapur District. Mass production began in August 2019, with the plant having an installed annual production capacity of 300,000 units.

In April 2021, Kia India redefined its brand identity as “Movement that Inspires,” aimed at delivering meaningful customer experiences through innovative products and services. Since then, the company has launched nine vehicles in India, including the Seltos, Syros, Sonet, Carens, Carnival, EV6, EV9, Carens Clavis, and the all-new Carens Clavis EV.

To date, Kia India has completed nearly 1.5 million vehicle dispatches from the Anantapur facility, including over 1.2 million domestic sales and more than 367,000 exports. With over 470,000 connected cars on Indian roads, Kia is among the country’s leaders in connected car technology. The brand operates a network of 796 touchpoints across 360 cities and continues to expand its footprint nationwide.
