Bajaj Auto on Tuesday said it has received a tax demand of over ₹3.5 crore from Assam authorities for FY22. The demand relates to excess input tax credit claimed in GSTR-3B compared to GSTR-2A, with the state seeking ₹3.52 crore in tax along with interest and penalty of ₹35.18 lakh, the Pune-based two-wheeler maker said in a regulatory filing.

The company stated that the input tax credit was availed after meeting all conditions under GST law and added that it will file an appeal based on the merits of the case.
