Despite the debates on driving bans and billions from the diesel affair Has Volkswagen Chart zeigen posted high profits in the past year. With a bottom line of around € 11.4 billion, the net profit was more than twice as high as in the previous year, as the group announced on the basis of preliminary figures. That was more than expected by analysts.

Nevertheless, the share fell significantly. A trader criticized the outlook, which remained behind the market expectation: The Wolfsburg-based car manufacturer is aiming at the operating yield in the current year, only a range of 6.5 to 7.5 percent.

At the same time, the surplus thus rose above the level of the last full year before the software manipulation of diesel engines became known – namely in 2014. And this despite the fact that the Wolfsburg companies once again had to invest several billion euros in coping with the diesel crisis.

In 2017, the VW Group delivered 10.74 million vehicles to customers worldwide, a good four percent more than a year earlier. Sales increased by 6.2 percent to 230.7 billion euros.

The common shareholders, including as the largest group the families Porsche and Piëch, the country Lower Saxony and the Emirate of Qatar, should receive a dividend of 3.90 euros per share. The preference shareholders will receive 3.96 euros per unit certificate. For 2016, each was 1.90 euros less.

For the beginning of the year, the world’s largest carmaker announced moderate increases in deliveries. The Group is currently investing billions of euros in the conversion into a leading supplier of electric cars and mobility services.
