Apollo Tyres Launches Swasth Saarthi App to Provide Healthcare Access for Truckers

Apollo Tyres has unveiled the Swasth Saarthi app, a healthcare application designed to provide medical support to truck drivers while they are on the road.

The launch comes as the company commemorates 25 years of its Healthcare Programme, which was initiated in 2000 to address the health and wellness needs of India’s trucking community.

The app features video consultations with doctors and enables users to locate the nearest Apollo Tyres Healthcare Centre. According to the company, it expects the application to serve approximately 10,000 truck drivers in its initial phase of deployment.

The launch was accompanied by the release of a white paper titled “Truckers — the Backbone of Our Supply Chain,” which examined the challenges and quality of life issues faced by truck drivers. The research found that 74 percent of truck drivers seek access to medical assistance while on the road, with technology-enabled solutions preferred by the majority. The study also noted that 74 percent of drivers use smartphones, suggesting strong potential for digital healthcare delivery.

Rajeev Kumar Sinha, Chief Manufacturing Officer at Apollo Tyres, emphasized the company’s commitment to extending healthcare services beyond physical centres to mobile units and now digital platforms. “Our ‘One Family’ values reflect our dedication to tailored healthcare for the trucking community,” he stated at the launch event.

Over the past 25 years, Apollo Tyres Foundation has reached over 11 million beneficiaries in the trucking sector through its healthcare programme. The initiative has organized more than 1,000 health checkup camps and established 34 healthcare centres across 21 states. Services offered include vision care, tuberculosis management, and treatment for various non-communicable diseases.

The programme began with the Healthy Highway Project, launched in partnership with DFID, which focused on HIV awareness and prevention among truckers. It has since expanded to address a broader range of health challenges specific to drivers with mobile lifestyles and limited access to traditional medical facilities.

The event was attended by Rajesh Dahiya, Vice President of Commercial for Apollo Tyres (India, SAARC, Southeast Asia), and Shri Kultaran Singh Atwal, Former President of the All India Motor Transport Congress.
