September 2025 has turned out to be a mega month for Mahindra & Mahindra, one in which it achieved a number of new records. At 56,233 SUVs dispatched to dealers, last month’s wholesales were the best-ever for the company. Then, its two best-selling brands – Scorpio and Thar – registered their best-ever monthly sales. It’s the same growth story for M&M’s two Born Electric SUVs, the BE 6 and XUV 9e on the production, sales and also export front.
In September, M&M’s Chakan plant rolled out 5,959 units of the two all-electric SUVs, up 21% month on month (August 2025: 4,921 units). The BE 6 and XEV 9e accounted for 10% of M&M’s total output of 57,150 SUVs, which also marked a record high and up 24% YoY (September 2024: 46,152 units). This marks the first time that monthly production has crossed 5,000 units and takes the two e-SUVs’ cumulative nine-month production to 35,085 units (see data table below).
The Chakan plant rolled out 5,959 units of the two e-SUVs in September 2025. Monthly domestic sales were a new high of 4,320 units.
Interestingly, September 2025 saw M&M export 210 units of the BE 6 and XEV 9e – its highest monthly exports for these models – taking their cumulative overseas market shipments to 217 including one in March, three in May, one each in June, July and August.
.Cumulative wholesales for January-September at 31,262 units sees them account for a 6% share of the company’s record SUV wholesales of 446,697 units, up 16% YoY (January-September 2024: 386,310 units). September’s 4,320 units are the best monthly score yet and mark the fourth month (after May, June and July) that Be 6 and XEV 9e dispatches have crossed the 4,000-unit mark. Dispatches to M&M dealers in August were restricted to 3,864 units as a result of strategic inventory management ahead of the planned GST rate cut, which was announced on September 3.
On August 15, M&M upped the BE 6 ownership quotient with the reveal of the limited-run BE 6 Batman Edition, priced at Rs 27.79 lakh. Within a scant 135 seconds, the model — which marks a licensing collaboration between Mahindra and Warner Bros Discovery Global Consumer Products — sold all 999 units, marking a record launch and highlighting strong demand for themed EVs in India. Deliveries are slated to begin in the fourth quarter of CY2025.
M&M’s nine-month cumulative wholesales mean that it has already achieved 84% of its record CY2024 sales of 528,460 SUVs and sets the stage for the SUV manufacturer to drive past the 600,000 milestone for the first time in both the current calendar year as well as FY2026.
M&M’s EV retail market share rises to 18% with BE 6, XEV 9e
For M&M, whose e-SUV portfolio also includes the XUV400, the rollout of the BE 6 and XEV 9e in January this year has dynamically improved its EV retail market performance. Vahan-sourced nine-month retail sales data above reveals that the company’s market share has risen month on month, and more than doubled year on year.
Between January and September 2025, the company has delivered 22,823 e-SUVs — the bulk of this total comprising the BE 6 and XEV 9e — to its customers. The stellar 339% YoY (see data table above) increase translates into an additional 17,621 units over the 5,202 XUV400s M&M sold in the year-ago period.
As a result of this performance, M&M’s share of India’s overall electric passenger vehicle market, which comprises zero-emission hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs and MPVs, has jumped to 18% from 7% in the January-September 2024 period.
The company remains bullish on customer demand coming its way for these two premium zero-emission SUVs, which push the EV envelope with their high-performance drivetrains, in-house assembled lithium-ion phosphate battery packs, top-notch crash safety standards, and a host of interior features benchmarked to the highest level.
