“Supply difficulties with gearboxes persist,” Thierry Giroux, Force Ouvrière union delegate, told AFP.

Management confirmed that activity would remain suspended until Friday October 24 inclusive, with a planned restart on Monday 27 in the morning. This scenario will be reassessed and validated at the end of the week, according to the same source.

Around 2,400 employees are affected and placed on long-term partial activity (APLD), estimated the trade unionist Force Ouvrière.

The month of October promises to be particularly disrupted for the Sochaux site: several production sessions had already been canceled three Fridays in a row, as well as two night tours. In total, eleven working sessions were canceled due to difficulties with various suppliers.

With a usual rate of around 1,044 vehicles each day, the prolonged shutdown represents a production shortfall of more than 7,500 vehicles.

During an ordinary Social and Economic Committee (CSE), which was held at the end of September, Stellantis management also announced the cessation of production in its Mulhouse (Haut-Rhin) factory manufacturing the 308, 408 and DS7 models for one week, from October 27 to November 2, according to a union source.

“Management justifies this stop by a difficult context for the automobile industry”, with “a drop in vehicle sales in Europe” and “aggressive price competition which weakens market shares” indicated the CFE-CGC.

These decisions are in addition to the recent announcement by Stellantis to shut down its Poissy (Yvelines) factory for three weeks in October and put its 2,000 employees on partial unemployment.

The Poissy factory produces 420 vehicles per day.
