China hopes the European Union will urge the Netherlands to put forward a proper solution to resolve a standoff over chipmaker Nexperia soon, Commerce Minister Wang Wentao told EU trade chief Maros Sefcovic in a video call on Tuesday, according to a statement from the Chinese ministry.
On China’s export controls over rare earths, Wang said Beijing was committed to maintaining the security and stability of global industrial supply chains and has always facilitated the approval process for EU enterprises, the statement said.
The two officials also discussed other issues including the EU’s tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, and agreed to hold a new round of China-EU export control talks in Brussels soon, the ministry said.
