Maruti Suzuki India Limited announced on October 23, 2025, that the Jimny 5-door has crossed cumulative exports of 1 lakh units from India. The vehicle is now exported to more than 100 countries and ranks as the second most exported model from the company, following FRONX.
The export program for the Jimny 5-door began in 2023, shortly after the vehicle’s launch in India. The top five export destinations are Japan, Mexico, Australia, South Africa, and Chile. The SUV is manufactured exclusively in India for global markets.
The vehicle’s launch in Japan in January 2025, marketed under the name “Jimny Nomade,” generated over 50,000 orders within days of introduction. This response demonstrates the model’s acceptance in the Japanese market.
The Jimny 5-door features a ladder-frame chassis and Suzuki’s ALLGRIP PRO four-wheel drive system. It is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine designed for off-road performance and stability.
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, stated that the milestone represents achievement for the company. He noted that the Jimny has over 50 years of global heritage and that its off-road capabilities and performance have contributed to its acceptance across multiple markets.
Takeuchi added that the Jimny is among 17 models exported by Maruti Suzuki, reflecting India’s position as a manufacturing hub for automobiles. The company’s exports have shown growth, with the milestone contributing to the broader “Make in India for the World” initiative.
Maruti Suzuki exported over 2 lakh vehicles in the first half of FY 2025-26, recording growth of approximately 40 percent and achieving its highest half-yearly export volume. The company holds over 46 percent share in India’s passenger vehicle exports. In FY 2024-25, total exports exceeded 3.3 lakh vehicles.
The export performance aligns with a multi-year growth trajectory for Maruti Suzuki’s international business. The company exports 17 different models to various markets worldwide, with the Jimny 5-door now established as a volume contributor to this portfolio.
