JOLT to acquire Volta Media Network from Shell to expand EV charging and digital advertising network

JOLT has announced an agreement to acquire a significant portion of the Volta Media Network from Shell, a move that will add thousands of EV charging and digital out-of-home (DOOH) media sites across the US. This acquisition marks JOLT’s formal entry into the US market and will expand the company’s operations to as many as 34 states and 64 designated marketing areas, including major metropolitan regions such as Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas–Fort Worth.

The integration will extend JOLT’s model of combining EV charging with DOOH platforms, enabling brands to reach consumers at diverse high-traffic locations, including malls, restaurants, travel hubs and retail centers. JOLT says it uses data-led advertiser tools, including advanced targeting, audience measurement and performance insights, to support advertisers in engaging audiences with increased precision across its expanded network.

For EV drivers, the combined JOLT and Volta network will provide charging speeds suitable for both quick top-ups and longer charging sessions. The network is designed to address daily and destination charging needs for a range of vehicle models. JOLT notes that this approach is intended to enhance the charging experience for drivers by increasing both network density and geographic coverage.

“This acquisition will accelerate our mission to make it faster, easier, and simpler for drivers around the world to switch to electric vehicles,” said Doug McNamee, JOLT CEO. “The Volta Media Network and JOLT share the same DNA – combining EV charging with a powerful media platform – making this acquisition a natural fit.”
