As a smart home reviewer, I’m particularly fond of robot vacuums. I enjoy unboxing, setting up, and testing them, and I love seeing new technologies emerge each year. Even if robot vacuums look similar, each one is actually quite different, which means I’m constantly learning new things about these devices.
We test dozens of robot vacuums each year at ZDNET, both in our lab and at home. As a result, I’m always writing reviews for different models and updating our choices for the best units you can buy.

The Mammotion Luba 2 has been my go-to robot mower since I first tested it in 2024. I’ve had it running several times a week for over a year, and this robot mower keeps my lawn trimmed and neat without me having to lift a finger. At this point, it’s basically a given that my lawn is always mowed.
This racecar-looking robot mower is perfect for small and medium-sized yards, regardless of whether they have challenging terrain, a fence, or obstacles. It has proven so accurate and reliable that I can easily send it out to mow my uneven, 0.3-acre yard and return to see a beautifully checkered lawn upon my return.
Review: This robot mower looks like a racecar, but it mows a gorgeous lawn
The Mammotion app lets you adjust mowing height and pattern, map out perimeters, and set up separate coverage areas. The robot mower’s wide cutting width of 15.7 inches makes it more efficient than other models.

The Roborock Saros 10R is ZDNET’s pick for the best robot vacuum and mop of 2025. It features industry-leading 22,000Pa of suction and a slim 3.14-inch tall design that allows it to navigate under low furniture. It also has Roborock’s VertiBeam Lateral Obstacle Avoidance technology to prevent it from getting entangled in cords and other small obstacles on your floors.

This robot vacuum is the recipient of ZDNET’s Editors’ Choice award.

This robot vacuum and mop was our pick for the best one overall last year (and was the top-seller on this list for the first half of the year), so I’m not surprised to see that it’s still very popular among our readers. It offers standout performance in obstacle avoidance, strong suction power, and effective mopping techniques. It’s so smart that it can even leave its mop pads at the station while vacuuming and then pick them back up when it’s time to mop.

The Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo Complete is the first 3-in-1 robot vacuum I’ve tested. It’s a self-emptying robot vacuum and mop with a self-washing mop, but its dock also houses a handheld cordless vacuum. The latter is charged at the dock alongside the robot and automatically empties its dustbin into the same dust bag as the robot does.
Review: Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo Complete
The Complete version includes a floor brush attachment to turn the handheld unit into a stick vacuum.

The Eureka E20 Plus is an affordable self-emptying robot vacuum that doesn’t use replaceable dustbags. Instead, it features a removable dust canister, similar to traditional vacuums, which you empty into a trash can. Removing the maintenance costs of recurrent dustbags every other month makes it easier to maintain the E20 Plus than most self-emptying competitors.
Review: Eureka E20 Plus
If you don’t mind tidying up before running your robot vacuum, and only need a robot to mop lightly for maintenance in between deep cleanings (or even if you only have carpets and don’t need the mop feature), the Eureka E20 Plus is a sound investment.

The Eufy Omni S1 Pro is one of the best robot vacuum and mops I’ve ever tested. As a reviewer, I get a lot of these devices and often don’t have room to keep them — but the S1 Pro is the one I’ve kept the longest in my home. It features precise cleaning and obstacle avoidance, and its mop roller is the best one I’ve seen in a robot of this type.

Deal: This robot vacuum and mop is currently 33% off, available for $1,000.

The Eufy E15 is one of the easiest robot mowers to install on the market, as it doesn’t require the addition of antennas or boundary wires to the perimeter of your property. This is Eufy’s first robot mower, and it has been quite successful thus far.
This mower navigates similar to a robot vacuum, using a combination of sensors, cameras, and algorithms to create maps and detect obstacles. The E145 model mows up to 0.2 acres, while the E18 can cover up to 0.3 acres.

I had the pleasure of testing the S8 MaxV Ultra early in 2024, when it launched as last year’s Roborock flagship robot vacuum and mop. This robot offers up to 10,000Pa of suction and uses an AI-powered camera and sensors for precise navigation around obstacles. It’s also one of the first robot vacuums to support Matter.
Review: Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra
Deal: The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra cost $1,800 at launch, but you can get it for only $1,000 right now.

The Eufy E28 Omni includes the company’s HydroJet system for mopping, which features a roller mop that is continuously cleaned while the robot mops your floors. It also has some of the strongest suction on the market, at 20,000Pa. But the best feature is at the dock, as this robot has a detachable deep cleaner, so you get a portable spot cleaner with your robot.
Review: Eufy E28 Omni
Deal: The Eufy E28 Omni launched this year for $1,300, but it’s currently on sale at $450 off, available for only $850.
