JSW MG Motor India announced that the MG Windsor electric vehicle has surpassed 50,000 units sold in under 400 days, establishing a new benchmark in India’s electric vehicle market.
The achievement positions the MG Windsor as the first four-wheeler EV in India to reach this sales figure in such a short timeframe. The vehicle maintained an average sales rate of five units per hour since its launch.
Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director of JSW MG Motor India, described the milestone as a landmark moment in India’s EV transition. The company attributes the success to the vehicle’s combination of design, performance, and value proposition.
Demand for the MG Windsor has extended beyond metropolitan areas, with non-metro markets showing sustained interest in the electric crossover utility vehicle. This geographic spread indicates broader acceptance of electric mobility solutions across different market segments.
The vehicle features what the company calls an “AeroGlide” design language and includes business-class seating with reclining capability up to 135 degrees. It delivers 100 kW of power and 200 Nm of torque, with a starting price under the Battery-as-a-Service model of Rs 9.99 lakh plus Rs 3.9 per kilometer.
JSW MG Motor India recently introduced a limited-edition variant called the MG Windsor Inspire, which was unveiled by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
The joint venture between SAIC Motor and JSW Group was established in 2023, focusing on sustainable automotive solutions and advanced technology integration in the Indian market.
