Tata Motors Launches Sierra at Starting Price of Rs 11.49 lakh

Tata Motors today launched Sierra at an introductory price of Rs 11.49 lakh ex-showroom Delhi, positioning it as the company’s second midsize SUV to compete against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun. The bookings for the SUV will open on December 16 and deliveries will commence on January 15.

The Sierra debuts with three powertrain options. The 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 106 hp and 145 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. A 1.5-litre direct injection turbo-petrol engine generates 160 hp and 255 Nm, available exclusively with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine delivers 118 hp and 280 Nm, offered with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Top variants feature a three-screen setup, including a dedicated front passenger entertainment screen for movies and OTT content that can be used with wireless headphones. Two-screen variants include a heads-up display for navigation and speed information. The SUV comes equipped with a 12-speaker JBL sound system with a subwoofer, featuring a center dashboard soundbar and 13 preset sound modes.

Standard equipment includes ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, rear sunshades, a 360-degree camera, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, and connected car technology. Front seats feature an extendable squab for adjustable thigh support.

Tata claims 622 litres of boot capacity, expandable to 1,257 litres with the rear seats folded. The company states the Sierra offers ample knee room, shoulder room, and headroom despite the panoramic sunroof.

The SUV incorporates Frequency-Dependent Damping technology in its suspension system. Select variants receive terrain modes including Auto, Wet, and Rough settings. Tata reports the Sierra has 205 mm of ground clearance, 450 mm water wading capability, a 26.5-degree approach angle, 31.6-degree departure angle, 23.1-degree breakover angle, and a 10.6-meter turning diameter.

The platform supports alternate fuel powertrains including petrol-electric hybrid and CNG. An all-wheel-drive variant has been announced as forthcoming.
