Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd (TMPVL) has partnered with Dolby Laboratories to equip its upcoming All-New Tata Sierra with Dolby Atmos immersive audio technology, the companies announced Wednesday.
The vehicle will feature a 12-speaker audio system designed to deliver multidimensional sound throughout the cabin. Dolby Atmos technology allows audio to be positioned and moved around listeners, creating spatial sound effects that differ from traditional stereo systems.
The audio system is designed to work with streaming platforms including Gaana for music and Audible for audiobooks and podcasts, according to the announcement.
Karan Grover, Senior Director of Commercial Partnerships for India, Middle East and Africa at Dolby Laboratories, said the integration extends next-generation in-car entertainment to more users in India. The partnership represents a continuation of the companies’ existing collaboration.
Mohan Savarkar, Chief Product Officer at Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd., described the Sierra as one of India’s most anticipated vehicle nameplates. The company positioned the audio system as complementing the vehicle’s design and performance capabilities.
The All-New Tata Sierra represents a return of a nameplate from Tata Motors’ earlier lineup. The vehicle is being marketed toward drivers seeking technology-focused features alongside traditional automotive performance.
Dolby Laboratories, headquartered in San Francisco, develops audio and visual technologies for entertainment applications across multiple platforms. The company’s technologies include Dolby Atmos for audio, Dolby Vision for visual content, and cinema-specific systems.
Tata Motors is one of India’s largest automobile manufacturers, producing both commercial and passenger vehicles. The company is part of the Tata Group conglomerate.
