Motherson’s joint venture, Samvardhana Motherson Hamakyorex Engineered Logistics Limited (SAMRX), on Friday entered into an agreement with Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited’s subsidiary Dighi Port Limited to set up a dedicated roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) facility for automobile exports at the Dighi Port in Maharashtra.
The project is expected to serve vehicle manufacturers across the Mumbai–Pune auto belt and add a new export route for finished vehicles.
Terminal plan and features
The terminal will support end-to-end finished vehicle logistics. SAMRX will invest in the facility to vertically integrate services and offer cargo visibility tools to OEMs.
Planned features include a single-window RoRo operations system that integrates yard management, pre-delivery inspection (PDI), charging, storage and vessel loading into a unified workflow. The terminal will use AI-based yard optimisation to enable real-time traceability of vehicle movement and inventory.
To streamline outbound flows, an evacuation route via NH-66 will connect OEMs in Maharashtra directly to the port. The project also includes a RoRo-ready 1.3-km jetty designed for all-weather operations, alongside EV-ready logistics infrastructure to support electric vehicle exports.
Additionally, OEMs will have access to customised dashboards for load planning and volume tracking, improving visibility across the export cycle.
