Genesys International Corporation announced today that its Digital Twin Map platform deployed in Varanasi has received the GovConnect Award, marking recognition for its contribution to modern urban governance systems.
The platform, built on the Genesys New India Map Stack, incorporates spatial intelligence technology designed to support various municipal functions including infrastructure planning, disaster preparedness, and public service delivery across the ancient city.
Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal indicated the platform establishes new standards for electronic governance using spatial intelligence, suggesting similar systems could benefit other urban centers nationwide.
Technical Implementation
The Varanasi Digital Twin Map Stack features a 3D city model with 5-centimeter accuracy, integrating LiDAR-based mapping technology, live sensor data, navigation systems, and temporal datasets. The platform connects over 2,500 CCTV cameras throughout the city to assist with crowd monitoring during pilgrimage seasons and cultural events.
Given Varanasi’s position along the Ganges River plains, the system includes capabilities for identifying flood-prone areas, modeling disaster scenarios, and running predictive simulations to inform infrastructure planning. The technology also facilitates monitoring of large-scale construction and development projects within the city’s historic urban landscape.
Sajid Malik, Chairman and Managing Director of Genesys International Corporation, noted the award reflects India’s developing expertise in advanced mapping technology. He emphasized that Genesys represents the only Indian company currently offering an integrated map stack spanning from geometric twins to predictive twins that synthesize live and historical data.
The platform is being adopted across multiple sectors including urban governance bodies, mobility systems, infrastructure agencies, and location intelligence applications.
