The government has disbursed ₹1,350.83 crore in incentives under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for the Automobile and Auto Component industry as of 30 November 2025, according to data released by the Ministry of Heavy Industries. The scheme, which has a total outlay of ₹25,938 crore, aims to boost domestic manufacturing of Advanced Automotive Technology (AAT) products and expand India’s EV value chain.
A total of 82 applicants have been approved under the scheme, spread across two categories—Champion OEMs and Component Champions. These companies operate multiple manufacturing units producing a range of AAT components. The state-wise distribution of 278 approved manufacturing units shows Maharashtra (85 units), Tamil Nadu (49), Haryana (43), and Karnataka (29) emerging as the largest hubs.

The government said that eligible sales worth ₹32,879 crore had been achieved under the scheme until 30 September 2025, against the target of ₹2,31,500 crore to be met by March 2028.

The PLI Auto Scheme offers financial incentives to promote domestic production of advanced automotive technologies, strengthen localisation and support the transition to cleaner mobility. The Centre said that rising EV adoption, coupled with domestic value-addition requirements, has accelerated the localisation of key EV components across the value chain.

PLI Auto Scheme‘s Approved applicants list

The list of approved applicants includes major vehicle manufacturers such as Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hyundai Motor India, Kia India, Suzuki Motor Gujarat, Ashok Leyland, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto, Ola Electric and Piaggio. Among component manufacturers, companies such as Bosch, Bharat Forge, Ceat, Sundram Fasteners, Schaeffler India, Motherson Sumi, UNO Minda, Varroc Engineering and Wabco India are part of the scheme.

States with higher automotive manufacturing presence are expected to benefit from increased investments, deeper supply-chain localisation and expanded production capacity as companies work towards meeting their PLI-linked sales milestones by 2028.
