Jaya Hind Industries held a ground-breaking ceremony for the expansion of its Chennai manufacturing plant, marking a significant capacity addition for the precision aluminium die-cast component supplier.
The expansion, located in Kottaiyur Village, Thiruvallur District, represents an investment of approximately ₹200 crore. The facility will accommodate High Pressure Die Casting machines ranging from 1,400 to 4,400 tonnes, enabling production of components spanning conventional internal combustion engine parts to electric vehicle components and large structural castings.
A new manufacturing shed of nearly 13,000 square metres is planned to house the advanced die-casting equipment and expanded machining operations. The facility will operate as a fully vertically integrated unit, incorporating in-house processes including machining, powder coating, heat treatment, honing, and impregnation.
The expansion responds to a strong pipeline of new orders that has utilized existing capacity. The Chennai plant serves a diversified customer base including Cummins and Generac in the United States, domestic manufacturer TVS Motor Company for super-premium two-wheelers, and emerging electric vehicle module manufacturers. Upon completion, the facility will have a planned installed capacity of approximately 20,000 tonnes annually.
Prasan Firodia, Managing Director of Jaya Hind Industries, noted that the expansion strengthens the company’s die-casting capacity while deepening vertical integration capabilities. The investment aligns with building competitive manufacturing capabilities under the Make in India initiative.
Established in 1947, Jaya Hind Industries is part of the Dr. Abhay Firodia Group of Companies. The manufacturer operates facilities in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Madhya Pradesh, serving automotive and non-automotive sectors with a range of components from 5 grams to 51 kilograms. The company has won the “Best Foundry in India—Large Sector” Award seven times and recently acquired LMG Manufacturing GmbH in Germany to expand its European presence.
